Ft.deSoto Park, Florida
Staying fairly close to home we spent last weekend at Ft.deSoto Park in Pinellas County, FL. This is a very nice park. For a county park it is clean and well maintained. The sites can be a little tight for tall rigs ( little damage to rig, big one to pride!), and it is much quieter during weekdays for sure! Some of the rules go out the window on weekends but nothing too disturbing. Overall until fuel prices moderate this will be one of our "go to" spots.
RE: Confession Time --- Stupid RV Things We've Done...
I spent a cold, wet, windy day securing a wind-destroyed awning for the return trip home after pulling it down from the roof of the 5er. The wife had said "do you think you should take it in?", as soon as the word "no" left my lips it flew up onto the roof. Adding to that, when we were getting ready to leave the next morning I'm stowing the stinky slinky as my wife is retracting the slides and a three foot long by one foot wide piece of ice comes off of the slide topper and I swear I felt the wind from it on my face as it came by on it's way down. Two lessons learned.
RE: GA campgrounds
I stayed at the KOA across the interstate from Eagles Roost, it was really nice. Eagles Roost appeared to be nice also, my only concern from seeing it from the road was there seemed to be a lot of low hanging tree branches. The area is nice, not too big and busy, plenty of food and fuel.
RE: Reese custom mounting brackets?
I bought mine from Etrailer, they requrired one hole to be drilled in the frame on my F250, some I believe are no drill. Of course, you must drill the holes in the truck bed to mount the rails. I also liked that they place your hitch in the proper place in the bed, just ahead of the axle.
